Career in the Internet Age
A Message from Manu Mehta, President and CEO
Career is about earning, learning, growing and earning more. The most notable change that the Internet and the global economy have brought is the accelerated pace at which one can do it.
In the information age, intellectual capital directly translates into real dollars, and opportunities abound for people to leverage their creative talent.
What a knowledge worker must do - is to earn the most one can today while maximizing self-learning and growth. Time, i.e. length of experience, is no longer a significant factor in the income equation. One does not have to spend years before getting promoted. Nor would one's income potential increase just with time. Ability is the only thing that counts. If one is just earning, and not learning or growing, one's income over time is bound to decrease.
A part of learning and growing can come through on-the-job classes. A big portion comes through mentoring. The largest through entrepreneurship where one gets to build out one's ideas into working products or solutions.
I have seen some talented people squander away years not knowing how to grow their earnings. They believed that somehow their employer will grow it for them or perhaps they will be able to sell their mounting experience to a new employer for a higher salary.
At Metabyte we have built a history of enabling employees to grow - financially and professionally. We focus on helping each individual to recognize their natural talents and we work with them to transform their talents into unmatched strengths. We maximize our employees' current earnings by managing our overheads efficiently, so we can pay maximum while delivering competitive value to customers. We help in learning through formal training, mentoring or by investing in our employees' ideas.
We encourage open conversations about money at Metabyte because we know money matters. We show employees what they need to do to reach their desired income levels and do everything possible to help them get there. Most important, we remain in clear communication on what each individual's expectations are of oneself. And, we see to it that everyone at Metabyte knows what they need to do to thrive while we stay focused on making the right tools and avenues available to them.
If you are a knowledge worker in the internet age, you better be thriving. If you are not, be sure that someone else is.
